A Bitter Sweet Day

How do you approach a day where your life was surely supposed to end, but didn't. The only reason you didn't die was because someone else rescued you and forfeited His own life in the process. I suppose you would wake up like I did this morning and breath in and remember that someone else died today so I could have that breath and that next one to.

We celebrate this Friday because we didn't die like we should have. So we enjoy breathing, walking, living with those we love. I would love to throw a party with all those who were close to Him who stood in my place and have a picture of Him on the bar. I guess I'm thinking of George Malley's party in the movie "Phenomenon." You seen it? You should. That is how I want my funeral to be. I want all my friends to meet at my favorite spot, put a picture of me on the bar, and tell stories that we shared together.

Our celebration is a little different because its Friday, but Sunday's coming. On Sunday our feelings of thankfulness and gratitude change to feelings of awe and wonder of how death held no power over him like it did Mr. Malley or me or you. He was greater than death and it wasn't political propaganda or a fairy tale. He hung around to make sure everyone knew he was up from the grave and eventually left in Godlike fashion.
